His significant knowledge of flavour application is easily transferrable to the HNB category as well as understanding of appropriate design materials. These materials are crucial components, influencing the vapour generation and the consumer satisfaction.

With previous roles in Tobacco Blend processing facilities, Richard has relevant knowledge to tobacco blend set-up plus the effect of add-ons or add-backs processing parameters. His knowledge allows him to advise on the best way to optimise the processing machinery but also the taste generation of the tobacco or by-products. This can in turn be used to optimise cost and ensure generating the appropriate taste sensation that is required. 

Standardisation of your tobacco processing operation is key to maintaining quality products. Richard has experience with various operations platforms, working to remove complexity without removing quality. One of the key aspects of this optimisation process is to maintain a differentiated taste portfolio with a reduced number of cost generating tools and/or materials.

Richard is highly knowledgeable when it comes to participation in Sensory panels, contributing to a variety of evaluation types such as:

• Paired Comparison Testing
• Sequential Monadic Testing
• External Consumer Panel (ECP)
